Volunteer Activities

Daily activities are determined by supplies and need

  • Mercado - Volunteers will be part of our daily distribution. This includes handing out food, breaking down boxes, and helping control traffic.
  • Delivery Boxes - Volunteers work together to help us build, prepare, and pack meal delivery boxes. These boxes contain non-perishable foods, household items, and other produce that will be delivered to individuals in need throughout our borderland community.
  • Food Packaging - Volunteers will have the chance to help us package food items like beans, cereal, and cookies, for easier and more accessible distribution.
  • Other Activities - Other activities that volunteers may engage in include cleaning, food sorting, sandwich making, and office-related activities. Activities will be determined by age, availability of material, and need.

Volunteer FAQs

  • Do I need to bring anything to volunteer? - Volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes. This means no crocs, flip flops, or sandals. Volunteers should also wear work-appropriate, comfortable clothing that you can move in. Feel free to bring water, snacks, and lunch if you are completing a long shift.
  • Are there age restrictions for volunteers? - Our minimum age to volunteer is currently 12 years old. Volunteers ages 12-17 must have an adult chaperone with them.
  • Do I need to stay for a full volunteer shift? - While we prefer volunteers to complete a full 4-hour shift, we are flexible with hours and will allow volunteers to come any time between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
  • Can I complete probation community service hours at this location? - Yes. We are an approved location for people on probation to complete community service hours. Just ensure you have your relevant case information when signing in on-site and we will make your hours count.
  • Can I complete volunteer hours for someone else? - We cannot sign off on hours for a person who is not present and actively completing volunteer service.
If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to contact our Volunteer Coordinator Mia Reza at mreza@epfhfb.org or (915)253-4926. We're here to help!
